May you find your Wings

Ok: Without immersing myself too deeply in nostalgic sentiments, I'd just like to say that this piece is dedicated to everyone who made the last twelve years of school worthwhile - particularly this final year, which seems to have flown past faster than a green Lancer Oh, and I suppose this is dedicated moreso to Angie, since she actually *asked* me to make some new artwork (hence the Angel reference - wings, etc)

I have no idea where this concept came from. I guess it just fabricated itself somewhere amongst the creative abyss of my mind... I just had this idea of having a pair of wings... so I put some wings in a scene I started adding some claw-like things surrounding a blue dodecahedron, and then I started drawing those swirly vine things which I love so much I made the things chrome, because chrome is nice. Yes. Chrome is very nice, heheh. The rest of the time was spent experimenting with lighting and camera angles, which became extremely tiresome. In the end, I ditched the Radiosity, skylight, ambience and all that render-time-consuming fluff, and kept the blue 'crystal' as the primary light source, with a few soft spotlights as fill. After a 15min render time, I spent about an hour making extremely fine tweaks in Photoshop, manually painting in some missing shadows and adjusting the tonal Curves. For the text, Linotype Pirouette™ was used for the capitals, and Zapfino for lowercase. aaaaannnddd... that pretty much covers the entire creation process. It's a lot easier said than done, obviously
